It is possible for children to visit the Galapagos Islands without difficulty. Most of the cruises accepted children and even offer reduced charges for them. Children require additional monitoring during the excursions on the Islands and in water.

With respect to climate, the Islands are located in the equator, so the weather is hot most of the year. The most warm and rainy season is usually from December to April, with an average temperature of 22 ° C minimum and maximum 31 ° C. (70 ° - 84 ° F). At this time of the year, the water is calmer and warmer sea temperature than in other months (so diving with snorkel is recommended).

The "cold season" goes from May to November, with minimum average temperatures of 16 ° C and maximum of 27 ° C (68 ° - 82 ° F); “at this time there are more animals on the Islands, and cold currents bring with them more marina life, although the water is cold”.

The four populated islands are: Santa Cruz, San Cristóbal, Isabela and Floreana Island where the telephone and Internet services are more expensive than in the continental Ecuador.

When you arrive you must pay a fee of 100 dollars, even students, for admission to the Galapagos Islands. Unique discounts are granted to the members of the Andean Community (Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Venezuela and Bolivia) who have to pay the $50 fee.

The fee into the Park is distributed as follows: 40% for the Galapagos National Park; 20% to the municipalities of Galapagos; 10% for the Government of the province of Galapagos; 10% for Instituto Nacional Galapagos (INGALA); 5% for the Galapagos Marine Reserve; 5% for the system of inspection and quarantine of the Galápagos province; 5% for INEFAN (National Park Service); 5% for the national army. In conclusion, these taxes are used to the protection and preservation of the Islands.

The only way to go to the Islands is by air. It is strictly forbidden to go to the Galapagos Islands by any sea mean. If any boat with or without passengers is detected, will be quarantined (boat, its crew and passengers); to be under arrest and penalized.
